A Message from Secure's MD
Clifford Corne

Secure Engineering celebrates its 21st anniversary this year - with a new look, a shiny new company logo and a new website. You may have received one of our new brochures - please take time to read it and to pass it on to your colleagues. Call us if you want more copies.

In addition to the 'new look' we are forging links with a very select number of companies in related fields to bring you the whole package of CCTV, Intruder Alarms, Perimeter Security, Fire Systems etc. all managed by Secure Engineering. To discuss these opportunities with me call 01622 844244.

Despite the current economic downturn, now is not the time to neglect your premises' security. Have you had one of our Account Managers review your system recently? When did you last have your CCTV system serviced? Please call 01622 844244 to arrange a visit.

Project News - Central London multiple installations

On behalf of our client, KM Security Solutions - Secure engineers are completing installations and upgrades at four separate Central London locations. KM called in Secure Engineering to provide their high quality, reliable service all within a short timescale to suit incoming tenants.

Work includes CCTV installations and upgrades - new cameras and recorders and servicing existing systems. In addition, most properties have access control systems in varying states of operation. Where necessary, Secure is repairing or replacing these systems to restore full and secure building access.

New Products - DM EcoSense now being installed

Dedicated Micros latest offering - the EcoSense range of DVRs are now being supplied and installed by Secure Engineering.

For the client who requires professional features in an entry-level DVR, DM's EcoSense provides multi-channel recording with simultaneous playback and viewing. The EcoSense can be controlled from the touch sensitive front panel, via a mouse, keyboard or IR remote control giving the user full access to all the DVR's features including Telemetry control, Alarm Management and Activity Detection.

Secure Service - Regular Maintenance is essential

Even when you choose a high quality system from Secure Engineering, if you don't look after it, it will start to underperform and may even fail after some years of neglect. Secure are often called in by new clients to rescue them from failing systems where they have not taken up service contracts and have suffered and compromised their security as a result.

Keep it clean - especially if your cameras are in a harsh environment even the best camera cannot see out of a dirty window!

Check all functions - Constant use of PTZ cameras can, over time, wear out drive belts, wipers and flexible conduit.

Check your lights - Modern LED IR arrays have a much longer life but you may have older filament IR lamps which can fail after only a few months. Regular lamp replacement is essential.

For peace of mind Secure Engineering can take care of these issues and more under an Annual Maintenance Contract.

See Annual Maintenance on our website for further details or contact Secure Engineering on 01622 844244 or e-mail info@secureeng.co.uk

Why Regular Maintenance is Essential...

Hints and Tips
PTZ cameras and domes

"We had a break-in but the camera didn't pick it up - it was pointing the wrong way!"

The PTZ camera is a wonderful security tool but it is only as good as the operator driving it. Secure Engineering generally does not recommend the use of PTZ cameras where there is no full-time security operator - it is better to have a couple of fixed cameras focused exactly on the potential risk areas. However, if you do have unmanned PTZ cameras here's some tips to help avoid those embarrassing events!

Strict Regime - if your operators occasionally move cameras make sure they always return the camera to a home position often 'Preset 1'.

Auto Home - many PTZ cameras have an auto home function that moves the camera to a preset position after a period of inactivity. Then, even if the camera isn't returned by the operator it will return on its own after a short while.

Auto Tour - if you do need the camera to look in a number of different directions use its auto tour function. This makes the camera move automatically between the preset positions so, at least for some period of time, your camera will be looking in the right direction.
