The CCTV Digital Video Recorder – DVR – has developed rapidly over the last few years with many leading manufacturers bringing out new, significantly improved specification models at very affordable prices. Along with Dedicated Micros, Samsung and Vista DVRs have been proved to be user-friendly and technically advanced.

Secure Engineering has a huge amount of experience in the supply, installation and ongoing support of Dedicated Micros’ DVR range from the cost-effective ecoSense to their biggest BX2 model with many TeraBytes of storage. The mainstay DVR is now the SD-Advanced but Secure are also fully conversant with the DV-IP Servers and even the TransVu Transport variant DVR. All DVRs from DM have excellent alarm handling features including multiple alarm inputs, relay outputs and comprehensive event handling and logging. All models are network capable and can be accessed on a local network or via the Internet using DM’s free NetVu software.

With the increase in popularity of the IP Camera, many DVRs are now ‘hybrid’ being able to handle both analogue and IP camera inputs. However, for an IP camera only system, the Network Video Recorder – NVR – is the system tool to use. With no analogue inputs at all, the NVR only records IP streams from cameras placed anywhere on an IP Network. The NVR itself can be located anywhere on the network and is not limited by cable runs from individual cameras. It can be accessed and controlled by sophisticated software running on multiple PCs across the network and easily integrated with other CCTV, analytical and security systems. The IP network structure lends itself to very easy and flexible system expansion.
